The Vietnamese Association for Computing, Engineering, Technology and Science (VACETS) is pleased to announce the fourth VACETS Technical International Conference, the VTIC2002. The conference will be held on May 10 and 11, 2002 at George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia, USA. The theme of this year's conference is "Technology and Industry for a New Era." The conference will concentrate on those industries and technologies that will be making global commercialized impacts in the near future.

VTIC2002 will provide an excellent opportunity for engineers, scientists, academics, students, and investors to meet for information exchange, networking, friendship, and potential business partnerships. Participants in the past VTIC conferences have included professionals, academics, students and entrepreneurs in the start-up and/or high-tech companies.

Many of the conference participants hold senior positions in the various government agencies, and private industries. They are important decision makers in formulating policies, establishing financial and technical co-operations with their counterparts in research & development, and marketing or acquisition of their technology products.

Another important goal of this year's conference is to encourage the participation of the younger generation of engineers/scientists and the new graduates students in the metropolitan Washington DC area. Some of these younger engineers/scientists will be presenting their research papers at this year's conference for the first time.

The first day of the conference starts technical track with a plenary session on Economics & Management in the morning and parallel tracks in the afternoon: Biomedical & Medical Technologies, Telecommunications & Signal Processing, Applied Science, and Computer Engineering and Applications. The second day of the conference will be devoted to workshops, tutorial and panel discussions, covering a wide range of topics. The full conference program can be reviewed at https://www.vacets.org/vtic02/vtic2002.html

The highlight of the annual conference will be its banquet in the evening of the first day, May 10. The VTIC 2002 banquet will host many distinguished guests from the government. Among them Viet Dinh, U.S. Assistant Attorney General for Legal Policy, U.S. Representative Thomas Davis III, Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee and Chairman of the Government Reform Committee on Technology and Procurement Policy; and John Quoc Duong, Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. They will share with us their view on technology from a public policy perspective, as well as their vision for future sciences and technologies.

VACETS is an international professional non-political, technical association established to provide a forum for members to exchange technical ideas and information in support of work and education, and discuss the application of information technologies around the world.
